- The Company (SPASA) is incorporated as a Non Profit Company as defined in the Companies Act, 2008.
- The Company is incorporated in accordance with, and governed by:
1. the provisions of the Companies Act, 2008 without any limitation, extension, variation or substitution set; and
2. the provisions of its Memorandum of Incorporation .

Mission
To continuously assess and enhance the Shadeport industry through innovation and stakeholder engagement, to ensure that Shadeport solutions are solutions of choice..
Vision
To create a world of safe, high quality, affordable and sustainable Shadeport solutions and products.
The association is governed by a board elected by the members and the Chief Operating Officer appointed by the founding members will manage and oversee the various and day-to-day operational aspects of the Association.
The objectives of SPASA are:
- To establish, implement and regulate quality standards for the manufacturing and installation of shadeport and shadeport related products, to the benefit of all industry stakeholders and shadeport end users.
- To particularly promote safety in the manufacture and installation of shade net carports.
- To protect and enhance the reputation of all members as well as the shadeport industry.
- To encourage cooperation between members and the association.
- To regulate, in collaboration with stakeholders (insurance companies, engineering bodies, architects, and quantity surveyors etc.), ensuring that all shade net installers comply with the standards set by the association.
- To advocate for the interests of reputable installers and establish a framework for ethical business practices.
- To protect the interests of the various industry stakeholders at all times, and to investigate complaints and non-compliance by members.
- To create/maintain a list of preferred installers/companies that comply with general standards (SANS) and industry best practice to the benefit of the public, which will be developed over time in conjunction with stakeholders and members.
- To sanction non complying members and ensure remedial action where so required i.e. by terminating membership and/or educating and developing members and their professions.
